Create a new library

Prerequisite

  • Node
  • npm install -g @angular/cli

Steps for new library creation

  • Step 1 -> Create a new app (ng new app_name)
  • Step 2 -> cd app_name
  • Step 3 -> Generate library inside the app (ng generate library <library_name> )

Steps for publishing the library

  • Step 1 -> Create a NPM account
  • Step 2 -> Open the terminal inside the library and execute the command npm login

  • Step 3 -> Run ng build <library name> --prod (Create dist inside the library)

Dist: The dist folder is the build folder which contains all the files and folders that can be hosted on the server. The dist folder contains the compiled code of your angular application in the format of JavaScript and also the required HTML and CSS files.

  • Step 4 -> To publish a library, run npm publish

Other Useful Command

  • To know who is logged in -> npm whoami
  • Create a component used inside the library -> ng g c <component_name> project=<library_name>
  • To change the library package version -> npm version <version>
